Overview

Join Dr. Amelia Cullinan for an engaging and practical session designed to equip medical educators with tools to support learners during emotionally charged or complex communication with patients and families. This interactive session explores how to precept effectively at the bedside while navigating real-time challenges in patient care. Whether you're a seasoned faculty member or new to clinical teaching, this session offers valuable insights into tailoring your approach to meet individual learner needs and transforming challenging encounters into meaningful learning opportunities.

Presenter

Amelia Cullinan, MD, FAAHPM
Associate Professor of Medicine
Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth
Interim Section Chief of Palliative Medicine
Co-Director, Serious Illness Care Program
Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center

Dr. Amelia Cullinan is the Interim Section Chief of Palliative Medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, and an Associate Professor at the Geisel School of Medicine. She’s been at DHMC since 2012.

Dr. Cullinan’s non-clinical passions are education and quality improvement work. She is Distinguished Faculty with VitalTalk, an international organization which disseminates communication frameworks and teaching approaches for difficult communication. She co-directs the Serious Illness Care Program at Dartmouth-Hitchcock, which has educated over 500 interdisciplinary learners in the Serious Illness Conversation (SIC) Guide, and she led the creation of the Advance Care Planning tool in eDH.
