Overview

Cultural Sensitivity requires excellent listening skills and the ability to build trust with others. Because it influences outcomes such as patient experience, patient safety, and workforce health, cultural sensitivity is an important quality that nurses and other healthcare professionals should develop. Yet, being culturally sensitive can be challenging at times, especially when we hold strong beliefs that are different from our patients and peers. In an organization that thrives on the principles of DEIB, how can we learn to avoid assumptions, set-aside biases, and be sure we are treating everyone with dignity?

Join Beth Boynton, MS, RN, CP, and Jennifer Orbeso, DNP, RN, for an interactive workshop during which you will learn about terms associated with cultural sensitivity, participate in fun activities, and explore case studies that are designed to boost your awareness, skills, and practices as culturally sensitive professionals.

At the conclusion of this learning activity, (at least 75% of) participants will be able to discuss the importance of incorporating culturally sensitive care into their nursing practice.
