Presenters

Tyler Erath, PhD
Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry and The Vermont Center on Behavior & Health at The University of Vermont

Dr. Erath is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and the Vermont Center on Behavior and Health at the University of Vermont. He received his PhD in Behavioral Psychology from the University of Kansas in 2021. Broadly, Dr. Erath’s research is focused on behavioral health, substance use disorders, and implementation science. A central goal of his research is to integrate evidence-based treatments into real-world, community settings. Dr. Erath’s current research includes collaborative implementation projects with syringe services programs to study substance use and how to expand access to contingency management and other evidence-based treatments for service recipients. Dr. Erath is also the co-lead trainer in Vermont’s statewide contingency management implementation project, where he provides training, coaching, and technical assistance to approximately 15 substance use providers across the state. Additionally, as an invited member of the Contingency Management Policy Group, Dr. Erath’s work seeks to address real world implementation obstacles to the use of contingency management including policy, regulatory, financing, and health equity-related issues.

Kathy Kinirons, MS, LADC
Clinical Manager, West Ridge Center Opioid Treatment Program, Rutland Regional Medical Center

Kathy Kinirons is a Clinical Manager and Behavioral Health Clinician at the West Ridge Center in Rutland, Vermont. She received her Master of Science in Counseling Psychology from the College of St. Joseph the Provider in 2001 and has been a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor in Vermont since 2006. Kathy has worked in the field of substance use disorders since 2004, in both residential and outpatient services. She has been providing clinical supervision to clinicians in the agencies she has worked for since 2001. She has been working specifically with individuals receiving Medication for Opiate Use Disorders since 2013. Her primary counseling approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Reality Therapy. Within the past year, Ms. Kinirons and her treatment team at West Ridge have been working with Dr. Tyler Erath in Vermont’s statewide contingency management implementation project, assisted by the available State funding, to coordinate and facilitate multiple cohorts of patients at the clinic to engage in Contingency Management to address Stimulant Use.
