Overview

The history of herbal medicine in the United States is a unique one. Traditional Western Herbalism has its roots in European, indigenous, and classical practices, and over time, has also come to co-exist with more well-known medicine cultures such as Chinese medicine and Ayurveda. In this course, we will utilize lecture-based learning as well as small group casework, hands-on experiences, and audience participation to learn the basics of the Western apothecary and how it can be used in practical, safe, and effective ways in a wide variety of patient interactions.

Are you "scent sensitive?" Attendance is not advised, as experiential activities are planned throughout the day.

Speaker bio:
Lauren Eadline MSN, FNP-C, RH (AHG), is a Nurse Practitioner, herbalist, wife, and mother. As an NP, she works in primary care, serving the Syracuse, NY, area as a proud Upstate Medical University's Internal Medicine group member. She also has a medical background in cardiology and endocrinology and is a practicing herbalist and plant medicine educator. Lauren believes strongly in preventative health and living well and works to serve in these areas. In both her practitioner and educator capacities, she utilizes nutritional interventions, lifestyle changes, herbal therapies, and Western medicine to help folks along the path of healing and promote health empowerment.
