Overview
In this 3-hour hybrid interactive course, clinicians caring for people with serious illness will learn about the different formulations of buprenorphine used for pain management as well as for opioid use disorder. Clinicians will apply their knowledge about the pharmacology of buprenorphine to discuss applications for use in the hospital, ambulatory and end-of-life care settings through the use of interactive case-based discussions.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss the unique pharmacologic properties of buprenorphine, including the use of various formulations, indications and contraindications to treat pain.
  2. Identify patients that may benefit from the use of buprenorphine.
  3. Implement strategies to increase confidence in prescribing and managing buprenorphine therapeutic regimens across care settings.

In support of improving patient care, Dartmouth Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. 

American Medical Association (AMA)
Dartmouth Health designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 3.00 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
