Overview

Despite increased risk for mental illness amongst individuals with intellectual disabilities there remains a lack of effective mental health care and supports. The prevalence of need paired with gaps in services contributes to high levels of emergency psychiatric service use (Kalb, Beasley, Caoili, McLaren, & Barnhill, 2020). The SNTI welcomes mental health & IDD professionals, psychologists, psychiatrists, physicians, researchers, administrators, family members, self-advocates, educators, direct support professionals, social workers, service coordinators, students, and anyone interested in promoting wellness for people with IDD-MH.

Learning Outcome
(at least 75% of) participants will agree that they are able to utilize the evidence-based concepts and approaches shared within each session to broaden their understanding of the unique needs of individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and behavioral health needs in order to improve clinical practices and implement acceptable treatment modalities.
