Overview

The 41st Annual Cardiovascular Symposium at Dartmouth offers continuing education in an interactive setting with experts in the field. A broad spectrum of topics in cardiovascular medicine will be covered with an emphasis on recent updates and challenging clinical scenarios relevant to a broad range of clinicians. Thank you for joining us for this unique educational experience.


Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Discuss a minimum of three recent updates in the care and treatment of patients with cardiovascular disease.
  2. Discuss the role of genetics in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease.
  3. Demonstrate skills in the treatment of patients with postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS).
  4. Summarize amyloid heart disease.
  5. Explain new techniques in structural cardiology.
  6. Describe the considerations in treating severe aortic stenosis surgically versus transcutaneously.
  7. Summarize how left atrial appendage closure is a means of reducing stroke risk in atrial fibrillation.
  8. Discuss the extent to which current STEMI has evolved over the last 60 years.
  9. Review recent updates in vascular medicine.
  10. Develop skills in diagnosing and treating pericardial disease.
  11. Describe potential cardiovascular perils facing the pregnant patient.
  12. Discuss diseases at the intersection of oncology and cardiology.
  13. List the cardiac issues facing the patient living with HIV.
  14. Review the treatment of acute MI beyond just the ST segment.
  15. Discuss the extent to which data obtained for implanted devices can impact cardiologic care.
