Overview

This education series is intended to address the knowledge gaps surrounding neuro-specific conditions and interventions provided to patients within the NCCU/NSCU. Through this educational series, staff will learn how to perform and utilize various assessment skills to enhance patient care.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe sleep and the sleep cycle.
  2. Describe systemic effects of sleep deprivation, including the relationship between sleep deprivation and delirium.
  3. Discuss current recommendations to improve sleep in the ICU.
