Telehealth nursing, specifically Telephone Triage, is the riskiest form of nursing. Without standards of care, training, and competencies, nurses are engaging in the highest level of critical thinking and putting patients at risk for further illness or injury. Nurses need to understand the risks associated with telehealth and the legal ramifications when we fail to practice safely.

1. Define risk management strategies in telehealth nursing.
2. Identify legal standards that must be proven to assert malpractice.
