The 2023 – 2024 Trauma Webinar Series: Massive Transfusion in Traumatically Injured Adults and Children

  • Overview
  • Register
  • Content/Tests

Date & Location
Thursday, December 7, 2023, 9:00 AM - Monday, December 7, 2026, 10:00 AM

Credits
ANCC Nursing Contact Hours (0.75 hours), General Attendance (0.75 hours)

Overview

The need for massive transfusion can occur in patients of any age and may result from traumatic injury. Use of a ratio-based approach is helpful early in the process before laboratory testing becomes available. Available options for laboratory testing include rapid conventional coagulation testing and thromboelastography. Once reliable laboratory data becomes available, the resuscitation can be tailored to a laboratory-guided approach that provides components the patient needs while preventing unnecessary transfusions. In this session, attendees will learn how to recognize massive transfusion and provide evidence-based care for adults and children who require this support.
