Medical Fundamentals of Child Abuse and Neglect

This 6-part series hosted by the Child Advocacy and Protection Program at Dartmouth Health, will provide medical professionals an in depth understanding of how to comprehensively respond and recognize child abuse and neglect in a medical setting.

• Session 1: Participants will be given an introduction into how to recognize and respond to child maltreatment.
• Session 2: Participants will learn the basics around assessing and reporting child abuse and neglect.
• Session 3: Participants will begin to understand how to recognize physical abuse.
• Session 4: Participants will gain a deeper understanding of physical abuse discussed in the previous sessions.
• Session 5: Participants will learn to recognize sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect.
• Session 6: To wrap up the series, participants will have the opportunity to put into practice some of the basics around responding to child maltreatment.

In collaboration with this conference, Shield Our Children from Harm: Stronger Teams for Safe Families will be taking place April 4th at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and via live stream. Learning Outcome(s)
At the conclusion of this learning activity, 100% of participants will be able to discuss the overall plan of care for the child who may be a victim of child maltreatment.
