After years of practice, many nurses begin to ask ‘what’s next for me?’ Developing practice-based questions can be a rejuvenating way to engage differently in one’s career. This session will introduce a self-assessment of readiness and resources to guide nurses’ engagement in scholarly activity, and planning for practical projects.

1. Describe the steps involved in conducting a self-assessment of skills, time and environmental resources.
2. Discuss three different types of research projects, including the key steps involved in conducting a literature search and review.
3. Explain the tenets of the Donabedian model, including how use of this model provides RNs the opportunity to define and measure their practice as it relates to patient quality outcomes.
