Overview

Pediatric Grand Rounds is a professional continuing education lecture series aimed at improving health outcomes through lifelong learning opportunities. This presentation provides information on improving care for families impacted by substance use disorder (SUD).

Presenters

Sara Stulac, MD, MPH
Medical Director, Codman Square Health Center

Sara N. Stulac, MD, MPH, is Medical Director of the Practice at Codman Square Health Center, a federally qualified health center, where she oversees all primary care programs, and is a practicing pediatrician. She is also an associate professor at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine. After receiving her medical degree and MPH from Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr. Stulac completed her pediatrics residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. She then lived and worked in Rwanda for 6 years, collaborating with Rwanda’s Ministry of Health to develop primary health care infrastructure and community-based HIV care, and continued as Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Partners in Health in Boston for another 6 years. Until 2024, she was Medical Director of Primary Care Pediatrics at Boston Medical Center (BMC) where she worked for 7 years. At BMC, Dr. Stulac helped launch and then served as medical director for the Supporting Our Families Through Addiction and Recovery (SOFAR) clinic for families impacted by substance use disorder, along with other clinical and programmatic initiatives for pediatric patients and families.

Eileen Costello, MD
Chief, Ambulatory Pediatrics, Boston Medical Center

Eileen Costello, MD, Chief of Ambulatory Pediatrics, earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and social relations from Harvard University and her medical degree from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Boston City Hospital and Boston Children’s Hospital; she served as chief resident at Boston City Hospital from 1989-1990 and did her fellowship at BMC in the developmental and behavioral pediatrics division with a focus on autism. Also an author, Costello’s well-known book, Quirky Kids: Understanding and Helping Your Child Who Doesn’t Fit In, highlights her creative and innovative approaches to both clinical care and specifically to children with neuro-developmental challenges.
