Overview

This session will take attendees “From screening to action: Setting the stage for an honest patient discussion.” Our AIM implementation team and the NHPQC will briefly share administrative updates, details from the Perinatal Mental Health Conditions (PMHC) Patient Safety Bundle, and relevant data. We'll then hear from Wentworth-Douglass Hospital's Jess Bacon, DNP, CNM, FACNM and Rachel Myers, MSN, RN, CNL, C-EFM, CSSGB as they share learnings from universal perinatal mental health screening implementation. The speakers will share actionable examples of fruitful screening discussions and strategies for building trust with patients before engaging in a Q&A session with attendees.

At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe key reasons for implementing universal screening processes.
  2. Discuss strategies to increase patient engagement in the screening process.
  3. Identify one new patient discussion approach that you can implement in your own practice.
