Overview

This session focuses on developing facilitation skills for small groups in simulated communication-based encounters. Participants will learn how to effectively lead discussions, manage group dynamics, and facilitate critical thinking in simulated healthcare scenarios. This session is part of the Geisel Academy Teaching Bootcamp, an immersive, hands-on program for early-career educators, residents, and faculty. The session will equip medical educators to adopt a learner-centered, psychologically safe, and deliberate practice-driven approach, transforming the way they teach.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate effective leadership skills in facilitating small group discussions within simulated healthcare scenarios.
  2. Apply communication strategies to manage group dynamics and ensure inclusive participation
  3. Utilize critical thinking and teamwork skills during simulated encounters.

In support of improving patient care, Dartmouth Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. 

American Medical Association (AMA)
Dartmouth Health designates this Enduring Material for a maximum of 0.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

All other learners may claim CME-designated participation credit.
