Best Practices for Facilitating Small Group Discussions in Medical Education

This session aims to equip educators with the skills necessary to facilitate effective small group discussions in pre-clerkship medical education. Participants will learn strategies for managing group dynamics, fostering inclusive participation, and encouraging critical thinking among learners. Through active, hands-on practice, participants will explore various techniques to improve the delivery of education in small group settings, helping them to better prepare students for clinical experiences.

1. Effectively facilitate small group discussions in pre-clerkship medical education settings to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
2. Apply strategies for managing group dynamics including inclusive participation in educational discussions.
3. Foster critical thinking and active engagement among students during small group activities to support collaborative learning experiences.
