Medical Fundamentals of Child Abuse and Neglect for Healthcare Providers

AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (2.00 hours), CME-Designated Participation Credit (2.00 hours)

This course will consist of four mandatory half-hour recorded PowerPoint presentations and one optional one hour recorded PowerPoint presentation. It will be provider directed and paced. At the end of each of the first four modules, there will be a 3-question quiz, which will require 100% passing score.

• Professor of Pediatrics at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College

• Director of CAPP (Child Advocacy and Protection Program)

• Board-certified in child abuse pediatrics

1. Recognize physical and behavioral signs and symptoms of physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, and neglect.
2. Name the specialized medical evaluation centers in NH that providers can consult with on suspicious cases of child abuse and neglect including the diagnostic work up for physical abuse, sexual abuse, and child neglect.
3. Describe the mandatory reporter responsibility of healthcare providers and how to file a report with DCYF

You may claim credit for successful completion of this online course. In order to claim credit, you must follow these steps:

1. Click the Register tab above. If you are not logged into your account, you will need to log in. Use the Forgot Your Password? button if you need to reset your password.
2. Register for the activity.
3. Click the Content/Tests tab and then View Content to view the recording. View the entire presentation.
4. Complete the Post-Test (three-question quiz, which will require a 100% passing score). There is a quiz for each module.
5. Return to the Content/Tests tab to view the rest of the modules, completing the Post-Tests in order to progress.
6. Click the Complete Evaluation button, or click My Account in the menu bar; then click Evaluations.
7. Complete and Submit the Evaluation.
