Overview

OCD NH and the Dartmouth Health Department of Psychiatry are presenting a 1-day workshop, entitled: “Exposure and Response Prevention for OCD: Theory and Practice.” This training will focus on defining and understanding OCD through the lens of DSM-5 and the inhibitory learning model, which lays the groundwork for understanding exposure and response prevention as an evidence-based treatment for OCD. Throughout the training, clinical case examples will be presented by expert clinicians and participants will have the opportunity to apply their learning to practice cases. The training will end with a presentation on psychopharmacological treatment for OCD and a moderated panel discussion featuring people with lived experience of OCD and/or loved ones of those with OCD.

Light refreshments in the morning, and a full lunch will be provided.

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Use DSM-5 criteria to identify obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) in diverse settings such as private practices, emergency rooms, and local mental health agencies.
  2. Explain the principles of exposure and response prevention for OCD.
  3. Apply exposure and response prevention principles to three (3) practice cases.
