Learning Objectives:

  • To demonstrate a practical approach to risk assessment, using risk calculators as needed;
  • To recognize people at risk for genetic mutations who could benefit from genetic counseling
    and testing;
  • To describe risk reduction strategies (medications, surgery) and when they should be
    considered (and when they are covered by insurance)

Learning Outcome
At the conclusion of this learning activity, (at least 75% of) participants will be able to discuss at least three examples of applying current clinical research and principles of evidence-based medicine to determine clinical diagnosis and acceptable treatment modalities to patients in their care.
