Overview

Value Institute Learning Center Greenbelt training introduces students to the Lean Six Sigma tools and methodology of process improvement, while simultaneously developing their skills as team members. Participants will get a better understanding of how these tools can be applied in their organizations to increase productivity and efficiency, decreasing the complexity of processes and eliminating waste. This training has been designed to fit the needs of health care workers through the use of hands-on activities and presentations that directly relate to real world situations.

This class requires use of a computer or laptop with high speed internet. The class cannot be taken via a smart phone or tablet. Use of a web camera is required to ensure you are able to fully participate in the interactive class activities. If this presents any challenges, please email [email protected] for assistance.

Dates and times

  • Week 1: Sept 6 and 7, 2023, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm
  • Week 2: Sept 13 and 14, 2023, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm
  • Week 3: Sept 19, 20 and 21, 2023, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm
  • Week 4: Sept 26, 27 and 28, 2023, 8:00 am to 12:30 pm

Learning outcome(s)
At the conclusion of this learning activity, (100% of) participants will be able to state that they can apply robust process improvement methodology, using disciplined project execution, in order to support the development of a High Reliability Organization, which is focused on a Culture of Safety and Patient Centered Care.

Learning objectives

  • Demonstrate the use of tools and techniques to lead project teams through a continuous improvement project using appropriate tools, processes, and facilitation skills
  • Use data to quantify a problem and understand process performance
  • Apply continuous improvement tools and techniques to your everyday work
  • Discuss key concepts of change management and how to apply those to improvement work

Technology requirements

  • This class requires use of a computer or laptop with high speed internet. The class cannot be taken via a smart phone or tablet. Use of a web camera is required to ensure you are able to fully participate in the interactive class activities
  • Computers require Microsoft Excel and SPC XL software. SPC XL must be downloaded at least 10 days prior to the first class. If you already have an advanced statistical package, such as Minitab please contact the VILC to confirm it will meet the class requirements.

Cancellations
If you need to reschedule, please email [email protected] as soon as possible. We are happy to work with you to reschedule for another time.

A full refund less $25 processing fee will be issued for cancellations made 15 or more days prior to the class date. If you must cancel your registration within 15 days of the class, a 10% fee will be assessed per registered student.  

Prerequisites
Dartmouth-Health employees must apply for and be accepted to the Greenbelt program prior to registration. Completion of Yellowbelt training is highly recommended in advance of taking the Greenbelt class.

Certification
To earn Greenbelt Certification you must complete an improvement project that utilizes the tools and methodologies taught in class with guidance from a Blackbelt coach or as an independent study student.


Accreditation

Dartmouth Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Dartmouth Health designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 37.75 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Dartmouth Health Nursing Continuing Education Council is accredited as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.

This educational activity carries 37.75 contact hours.

Receiving Credit
The following steps must be completed in order to receive credit and be considered a Trained Greenbelt:

  • Register for the event online
  • Attend and participate in the sessions. Text the code provided during the session to 833-884-3375 to verify your attendance. 
  • Take the post-class exam and score 80% or higher.
  • Complete the online evaluation (located under My Account in the top menu) - Must be submitted within 30 days after the activity
