Overview

Please join us as we address when and how to use teachback in our communication with patients and families. Use of teachback is considered a “best practice” when offering education to those we serve. You will learn the benefits of taking a few extra minutes to complete the teachback cycle and the improved responses by patients and families when teachback is incorporated into your practice.

About our Presenter
Sue is a national health literacy professional who has been working with DH for 5 years as a consultant and trainer. She founded and directed the Health Literacy Institute at the University of New England in Maine for close to 3 decades. In that role, she provided training across the country to government, public health, and healthcare organizations. At DH, she has worked closely with Licia Berry-Berard and the Plain Language Team Licia developed to increase awareness about and skills to address the health literacy challenge.

Learning Outcome
At the conclusion of this learning experience, (at least 75% of) participants will be able to discuss the teachback cycle, including what it is, what benefits it offers, and what can be added to support the practice.
