  • Overview
  • Register
  • Faculty
  • Content/Tests

Date & Location
Thursday, October 16, 2025, 8:00 AM - Monday, October 16, 2028, 8:00 AM

Credits
AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (1.50 hours), ASWB Social Work Credit(s) (1.50 hours), CME-Designated Participation Credit (1.50 hours)

Overview

Youth with IDD are often overlooked when we are thinking about providing trauma-informed mental health services. Many of the modalities we often use (TF-CBT, CPP, EMDR, Narrative Therapy) can be adapted for working with youth with IDD or Autism. This training will provide concrete tools for adapting your clinical work for youth with IDD and/or Autism.

Presenter

Kelly Smith, MSW, LICSW
Training Director, Project ATTAIN

Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe at least three key principles of providing trauma-informed clinical care services to individuals with IDD
  2. Discuss at least one positive strategy for adapting their clinical work for youth with IDD.
  3. Identify at least one strategy for working with a non-verbal youth with IDD in clinical work.

Accreditation

In support of improving patient care, Dartmouth Health is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide continuing education for the healthcare team.

American Medical Association (AMA)
Dartmouth Health designates this Enduring Material for a maximum of 1.50 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB)

As a Jointly Accredited Organization, Dartmouth Health is approved to offer social work continuing education by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program. Organizations, not individual courses, are approved under this program. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. Social workers completing this course receive 1.5 general continuing education credits.
